"The fourth and largest major championship of 2008 took place on Saturday 16th August."
"A truly international event with over 8000 pipers and drummers representing 206 pipe bands from 16 countries gave 262 performances across the 8 competitive grades. 79 Drum Majors also competed in the Adult, Juvenile and Junior grades."
We're very grateful for our sponsors' co-operation with this scheme, which would simply not be possible without their prized donations. We have teamed up with the biggest names in the pipe band market to offer you the chance to win some fantastic prizes. And it's not just a set of pipes - no - all sections are catered for.
McCallum Bagpipes is one of the world's best known manufacturers of bagpipes, chanters and pipe accessories. Being an element of some of the greatest modern piping success stories, McCallum are kindly donating a set of bagpipes to the Top Six prediction winner.
Northern Ireland based Andante Drums was setup to and continues to create innovatory marching percussion products. From the SPA30 to Reactor, Andante has acted as a leader in the market for over 20 years. We thank them for their donation of a snare drum for Best Drum Corps.
The original bass and tenor stick company, Bass&Tenor are major suppliers to some of the biggest names in the pipe band circuit. Experiencing continuing growth and success, they are giving the winner of Best Bass Section the chance to win and design a custom pair of bass and tenor sticks!

Just as we do every year, we have provided a percentage-based breakdown of the three sections, detailing who got the most votes for each placing, and so the results as you saw them (collectively, averaged). You may find some surprizes! The entries were in HUGE quantities so the percentages have been mostly rounded. The entries were alot more global this year, too - the majority of entries were from the southern hemisphere, followed by North America and Canada, and Europe - notably Scotland.
